Belt Slipping

Technogym Fitness Equipment

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A Technogym treadmill belt that slips or hesitates is most often caused by a loose belt, lack of lubrication on the deck, or a worn drive belt. Check belt tension and lubricate the deck first.

Affected Models

  • Technogym Excite Run
  • Technogym Excite Run 1000
  • Technogym Excite Run 700
  • Technogym Skillrun

Common Causes

  • Running belt too loose (lost tension over time)
  • Insufficient lubrication between belt and deck
  • Worn drive belt under the motor cover slipping on the pulley
  • Failed motor brushes (older Excite Run models)
  • Damaged or worn deck (high-mileage machines)

How to Fix It

  1. Test belt tension.

Stand on the treadmill belt with the machine off. Try to lift the belt at the center — it should rise about 5-7 cm. More than that = too loose; less = too tight. Adjust per the machine's manual using the rear roller bolts.

  2. Lubricate the deck.

Technogym specifies silicone lubricant for the running deck. Apply per the machine's maintenance schedule (typically every 6 months or 250 hours). Lift one side of the belt and apply lubricant under it on both sides of the deck.

  3. Check the drive belt under the motor cover.

Power off and unplug the treadmill. Remove the motor cover and inspect the drive belt that connects the motor to the front roller. A glazed or worn drive belt slips. Replacement requires a technician on most Technogym models.

  4. Avoid heavy use without maintenance.

Commercial-grade Technogym treadmills are durable but require regular service. Unlubricated decks wear belts very quickly and increase motor strain — eventually causing motor failure.

  5. Contact Technogym service for persistent slipping.

If tension and lubrication do not resolve slipping, the drive belt or motor is at fault. Technogym service has the tools and parts to repair these properly.

When to Call a Professional

Belt tension and lubrication are user-serviceable on Technogym treadmills. Drive belt and motor work require a Technogym technician — these are precision components.
