What Does This Error Mean?

The load cell brake on the ClubSport Pedals V3 measures pressure, not position. If it reads max all the time, zero all the time, or jumps erratically, the most common fix is adjusting the BRF setting or checking the pedal cable.

How to Fix It

  1. Adjust the BRF (Brake Force Factor) setting.

    BRF controls how much physical pressure equals 100% brake input. A low BRF (e.g. 20) means light pressure hits 100%. Increase BRF to 50–80 for a more progressive feel requiring firm pressure for full braking.

  2. Calibrate the brake axis in Windows.

    Open Windows Game Controllers (joy.cpl) → Properties → Calibrate. With no pressure on the brake, set the minimum. With full pressure, set the maximum.

  3. Check the pedal cable connection.

    The CS Pedals V3 connect via USB or RJ12 (to wheelbase). Check both ends of whichever cable you use for loose connections.

  4. Update pedal firmware via the Fanatec app.

    Load cell calibration data can be reset by a firmware update. Update and recalibrate afterwards.

  5. Check for brake axis always reading maximum.

    If the brake axis reads 100% without any input, the load cell is likely under constant tension. This can happen if the rubber brake stop is too compressed. Adjust the brake pedal stop position.
