CE-30012-6

PlayStation Gaming Console

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

CE-30012-6 means an error occurred while downloading content on your PlayStation 4. The download was interrupted or failed to complete correctly. Deleting the failed download and restarting it usually fixes this.

Affected Models

  • PlayStation 4 Pro
  • PlayStation 4 Slim
  • PlayStation 4

Common Causes

  • Internet connection dropped during the download
  • Not enough free storage space on the PS4 hard drive
  • PSN servers had a temporary issue delivering the content
  • Download queue has a corrupted entry blocking progress
  • PS4 was put into rest mode incorrectly during an active download

How to Fix It

  1. Delete the failed download and start it again.

Go to Notifications > Downloads. Find the failed item, press Options, and delete it. Then go back to the PlayStation Store and download it fresh.

  2. Check your available storage space.

Go to Settings > Storage > System Storage. You need more free space than the download size. Delete old games if space is low.

  3. Restart your PS4 and router.

Turn the PS4 fully off. Unplug the router for 60 seconds. Power both back on before starting the download again.

  4. Run the PS4 internet connection test.

Go to Settings > Network > Test Internet Connection. Make sure your connection speed and PSN access are both passing.

  5. Download via a wired ethernet connection.

Plug an ethernet cable from your router directly into the PS4. Wired downloads are much more stable and less likely to fail mid-download.

When to Call a Professional

If downloads consistently fail on a specific game, contact PlayStation Support. They can check if there is a known issue with that title's download package.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged again if I delete and redownload the game?

No — you will not be charged again. Games you have purchased are permanently in your library. You can download them as many times as you need at no extra cost.

How much storage does a PS4 game need?

Modern PS4 games range from about 20 GB to over 100 GB. Check the game's page on the PlayStation Store to see its exact download size. Make sure you have that much free space before downloading.

Can I download games while the PS4 is in rest mode?

Yes — rest mode can download games in the background. Make sure Stay Connected to the Internet is enabled in rest mode settings. If rest mode keeps causing download failures, try downloading while the PS4 is fully on.
