App Pairing Failed
Oticon Hearing Aid
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Oticon Companion app pairing failures are most often caused by aids paired to another phone or stale Bluetooth state. Forget any existing pairings in your phone Bluetooth settings, then power-cycle the aids and re-pair.
Affected Models
- Oticon Real
- Oticon More
- Oticon Intent
- Oticon Own
- Oticon Zircon
- Oticon CROS PX
Common Causes
- Aids paired to a previous phone or device
- Phone Bluetooth has stale state
- Aids not in pairing mode after extended use
- Oticon Companion permissions (Bluetooth, Location) not granted
- Phone outside the 1-meter range during pairing
How to Fix It
-
Power-cycle the aids.
Open both battery doors for 5 seconds (or place rechargeable aids in the charger for 5 seconds), then close/remove. The aids reboot and enter pairing mode for around 3 minutes.
-
Forget existing pairings on the phone.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and remove any 'Oticon hearing aid' or similar entries. On iPhone, also check Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices and clear pairings there.
-
Grant Oticon Companion permissions.
Phone Settings > Apps > Oticon Companion > Permissions. Grant Bluetooth and Location. Both are required for the app to discover and stream to aids.
-
Re-pair through Companion app.
Open Oticon Companion and start a fresh pairing flow. The app guides you through pairing — keep the phone within 1 meter of the aids.
When to Call a Professional
Your audiologist can re-pair Oticon aids using Genie 2 fitting software at a clinic visit if self-pairing fails repeatedly.
