App Not Connecting
Phonak Hearing Aid
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
If myPhonak cannot connect, the most common cause is the aids being paired to another phone or having stale Bluetooth connection state. Forget the aids in iPhone/Android Bluetooth settings, then re-pair through the myPhonak app.
Affected Models
- Phonak Audeo Lumity
- Phonak Audeo Paradise
- Phonak Audeo Marvel
- Phonak Audeo Sphere
- Phonak Naida
Common Causes
- Aids paired to another phone or device
- Bluetooth disabled or stale on the phone
- Phone outside pairing range during setup
- myPhonak app permissions (Bluetooth, Location) not granted
- Aids need a fresh power-cycle to enter pairing mode
How to Fix It
-
Power-cycle the aids.
Open both battery doors for 5 seconds (or place rechargeable aids in the charger for 5 seconds), then close/remove. The aids reboot and enter pairing mode for about 3 minutes.
-
Forget existing pairings on the phone.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth and forget any 'LE_R-Phonak hearing aid' or similar entries. On iPhone, also check Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices and remove old pairings there.
-
Grant myPhonak permissions.
Phone Settings > Apps > myPhonak > Permissions. Grant Bluetooth and Location. The myPhonak app needs both to discover and stream to aids.
-
Pair through the myPhonak app.
Open myPhonak and start a fresh pairing. Follow the on-screen prompts. The app guides you through pairing one aid at a time. Hold the phone within 1 meter of the aids during pairing.
When to Call a Professional
Your audiologist can re-pair the aids during an appointment if self-pairing fails repeatedly. They also have access to Target software to verify aid configuration.
