App Pairing Failed
ReSound Hearing Aid
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
If the ReSound Smart 3D app cannot find your hearing aids, the most common causes are aids not in pairing mode, Bluetooth turned off on the phone, or the aids are still paired to a previous phone. Open and close the battery doors to put the aids in pairing mode.
Affected Models
- ReSound ONE
- ReSound Nexia
- ReSound Omnia
- ReSound Linx Quattro
- ReSound Key
Common Causes
- Hearing aids not in pairing mode (need a fresh power-on)
- Bluetooth disabled on the phone
- Aids still paired to a previous phone or another device
- Phone outside the 1-meter pairing range
- App permissions (Bluetooth, Location) not granted
How to Fix It
-
Put the aids in pairing mode.
Open both battery doors for 5 seconds, then close them. The aids power-cycle and enter pairing mode for about 3 minutes. For rechargeable aids, place in the charger for 5 seconds, then remove.
-
Forget the aids on iPhone or Android.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth > forget the existing ReSound aid pairings. For iPhone, also go to Accessibility > Hearing Devices and remove any old pairings.
-
Grant Bluetooth and Location permissions.
Open phone settings > Apps > ReSound Smart 3D > Permissions. Bluetooth and Location must be granted. The ReSound app needs both to discover and connect to aids.
-
Re-pair through the app.
Open the Smart 3D app and start the pairing flow. When prompted, hold your phone within 1 meter of the aids. Wait — the search can take up to 60 seconds.
When to Call a Professional
Your audiologist can re-pair the aids during an appointment if self-pairing fails. They can also verify firmware versions and reset aids if needed.
