F1

Lloyd Split AC

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

F1 on a Lloyd AC means the indoor ambient temperature sensor (room thermistor) has a fault. This sensor reads room temperature so the AC knows when to increase or reduce cooling to maintain the set temperature. F1 triggers a safety shutdown — without reliable room temperature data, the AC cannot operate correctly.

Affected Models

  • Lloyd Inverter Split AC (all capacities)
  • Lloyd 3 Star Inverter
  • Lloyd 5 Star Inverter
  • Lloyd GLS series
  • Lloyd LS series Inverter

Common Causes

  • Indoor ambient thermistor failed — resistance outside the normal range
  • Thermistor connector loose at the indoor PCB
  • Thermistor wire damaged during installation or annual AC service
  • Dust accumulation on the thermistor probe
  • Indoor PCB fault causing incorrect reading of the ambient sensor

How to Fix It

  1. Switch off at the remote and main switch. Wait 5 minutes and restart.

If F1 clears and does not return, it was a transient error. Monitor over the next few uses.

  2. Clean the indoor unit air filter.

A blocked filter affects airflow over the ambient sensor and can contribute to abnormal readings.

  3. Call Lloyd service (1800-315-1111) if F1 persists.

Note your model number and purchase date when calling — required for warranty claims.

When to Call a Professional

F1 requires a Lloyd (Havells) authorised technician. Lloyd customer care: 1800-315-1111. A technician will test the ambient thermistor and replace it if it reads outside specification.
