Error 1000
ResMed CPAP Machine
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Error 1000 on a ResMed CPAP indicates a flow generator fault — an internal hardware error. This is not user-fixable. Contact ResMed or your CPAP supplier — the machine likely needs servicing or replacement.
Affected Models
- ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet
- ResMed AirSense 10 Elite
- ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet
- ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto
- ResMed AirCurve 10 S
Common Causes
- Internal flow generator motor fault
- Blocked air intake filter causing motor overload
- Electronic control board failure
- Machine dropped or physically damaged
How to Fix It
-
Check and replace the air intake filter.
The gray foam filter on the back of the machine should be replaced every 6 months. A severely blocked filter starves the motor of air and can cause it to overheat and fault.
-
Power cycle the machine.
Unplug from the mains for 60 seconds. Plug back in and try to start a therapy session. If Error 1000 returns immediately, the fault is persistent.
-
Do not attempt to open or repair the machine yourself.
ResMed CPAPs are sealed units. Opening the case voids the warranty and can create a safety hazard.
-
Contact ResMed support or your CPAP supplier.
ResMed machines have a 2-year warranty (often extended to 3 by suppliers). Quote Error 1000 — the support team will advise on repair or replacement.
-
Use a backup device if available until resolved.
Missing CPAP therapy for more than a few nights can worsen sleep apnea symptoms. If you have no backup, ask your supplier about a loan machine.
