Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
An LG microwave door that won't close or latch is usually caused by a broken door latch hook or a worn door latch spring. The microwave will not start with the door open — this is a safety feature. Inspect the latch hooks and choke assembly for damage.

How to Fix It

Inspect the door latch hooks.
Open the microwave door and look at the two plastic latch hooks that extend from the door into the frame. A cracked, broken, or missing hook prevents the door from latching. Replacement latch hook assemblies cost $10–$20.

Check the latch receptacles on the frame.
Look at the holes in the microwave frame where the door hooks engage. If the plastic around these holes is cracked or the spring mechanism inside is worn, the hooks engage but do not hold.

Check for a warped or misaligned door.
Close the door and look at the gap between the door and the frame from the side. An uneven gap means the door is misaligned. On over-the-range models, check that the microwave itself is level — a tilted unit causes door alignment issues.

Test the door interlock switches.
Even if the door appears to close, faulty door switches prevent the microwave from starting. With the microwave unplugged, test each switch with a multimeter — each should show continuity when its actuator is pressed.
