Admin Page Not Accessible
TP-Link Wi-Fi Router
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
If 192.168.0.1 or tplinkwifi.net is not loading, your device is either not connected to the TP-Link network, the router's gateway IP has been changed, or the browser cache is interfering. Connect via Ethernet and try again — that alone resolves most cases.
Affected Models
- TP-Link Archer AX series
- TP-Link Archer A series
- TP-Link Archer C series
- TP-Link Deco mesh system
- TP-Link TL-WR series
Common Causes
- Device connected to a different network — not the TP-Link
- Router gateway IP changed from the default 192.168.0.1
- Browser redirecting to a search engine instead of the IP address
- VPN or proxy intercepting the request
- Browser cache or extension blocking the page
- Router is in Access Point mode — gateway is the upstream router
How to Fix It
-
Connect to the TP-Link network first.
The admin page is only accessible from a device that is connected to the TP-Link router — either via Ethernet cable or its Wi-Fi. Check your device is not connected to a neighbour's network or a mobile hotspot.
-
Try connecting via Ethernet cable.
Use an Ethernet cable from your computer to any LAN port on the TP-Link router. Ethernet bypasses Wi-Fi connection issues and gives you a direct connection to the router's admin interface.
-
Try 192.168.1.1 if 192.168.0.1 does not work.
Some TP-Link models use 192.168.1.1 as the default gateway instead of 192.168.0.1. Also try typing tplinkwifi.net in the browser address bar. You can find the correct gateway address by opening Command Prompt on Windows, typing ipconfig, and looking for the 'Default Gateway' value.
-
Type the address directly, do not search.
In your browser, click the address bar at the top, type 192.168.0.1, and press Enter. Do not type it into a search box — browsers will search instead of navigate. If the browser adds https:// automatically, remove it — the admin page uses http://, not https://.
-
Disable VPN and try a different browser.
VPNs re-route all traffic away from local addresses, making the router admin page inaccessible. Disable any VPN or proxy, then retry. Also try a different browser or open an incognito/private window to rule out browser extension interference.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the default TP-Link router login?
The default TP-Link login page is accessed at http://192.168.0.1 or http://tplinkwifi.net. The default username is admin and the default password is admin on most older models. On newer Archer AX models, the default password is printed on the label on the bottom of the router. If you have changed the password and forgotten it, a factory reset (pin reset on the back of the router) will restore the defaults.
