Port Forwarding Not Working
TP-Link Router
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
TP-Link port forwarding fails most often because your device got a new DHCP IP address, making the old rule point to nothing. Assign your device a static (reserved) IP first, then recreate the port forwarding rule.
Affected Models
- Archer AX series
- Archer AC series
Common Causes
- Device IP changed — DHCP reassigned a new address
- ISP using CGNAT — no dedicated public IP assigned
- Windows Firewall on the device blocking the incoming port
- Double NAT — ISP modem also performing NAT
- Rule created with the wrong internal IP address
