Not Heating

Frigidaire Oven

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

A Frigidaire electric oven that does not heat most often has a failed bake element. A Frigidaire gas oven that does not heat usually has a failed igniter. Check for F10 or F30 error codes first.

Affected Models

  • Frigidaire Electric Range
  • Frigidaire Gas Range
  • Frigidaire Gallery Range
  • Frigidaire Professional Range

Common Causes

  • Failed bake element (electric ovens — most common)
  • Failed oven igniter (gas ovens)
  • Open temperature sensor (F30)
  • Blown thermal fuse
  • Faulty control board relay (related to F10)

How to Fix It

  1. Check for an F10 or F30 error code.

These codes indicate specific faults. F10 is a temperature runaway (usually a shorted sensor or stuck relay). F30 is an open sensor. Fix the underlying fault before investigating further.

  2. Inspect the bake element (electric ovens).

Look at the bake element at the bottom of the oven cavity. Burn marks, a hole, or blistering confirm it has failed. Bake elements are inexpensive and easy to replace.

  3. Test the igniter (gas ovens).

Watch the igniter when you turn on the oven. If it glows orange but does not ignite within 90 seconds, the igniter is weak and must be replaced.

  4. Test the thermal fuse.

The oven thermal fuse is behind the back panel. Test with a multimeter — no continuity means it has blown. Replace it and investigate what caused it to blow.

When to Call a Professional

If the bake element and igniter are working but the oven still does not heat, a technician should test the control board relays and wiring.
