No Heat

Samsung Oven

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A Samsung oven that won't heat usually has a burned-out bake element, a failed temperature sensor, or a blown thermal fuse. Check if the broil element still works — if it heats but the bake element doesn't, the bake element has failed.

Affected Models

  • Samsung Electric Range
  • Samsung Slide-In Range
  • Samsung NE Series
  • Samsung NX Series

Common Causes

  • Failed bake element (most common on electric ovens)
  • Blown oven thermal fuse
  • Faulty oven temperature sensor preventing the heating cycle from starting
  • Control board failure not sending power to the element
  • Tripped circuit breaker on the 240V supply

How to Fix It

  1. Check the circuit breaker.

Electric ovens run on 240V. A tripped breaker or one tripped leg means the oven may power on but have no heat. Locate the oven's breaker in the panel and reset it fully.

  2. Inspect the bake element visually.

Look at the bake element at the bottom of the oven cavity while the oven is off. A burned-out element often shows a visible crack, blister, or burn hole. An element with visible damage must be replaced.

  3. Test the bake element with a multimeter.

Unplug the oven and disconnect the element wires. Test for continuity — a working element shows continuity. An open circuit means the element has burned out. Replacement elements cost $20–$60.

  4. Test the oven temperature sensor.

The sensor probe at the upper rear of the oven cavity should read ~1,000 ohms at room temperature. If it reads open circuit or zero, it has failed and will prevent the oven from starting a heating cycle.

When to Call a Professional

If the bake element, thermal fuse, and temperature sensor all test fine, the issue is with the control board or wiring harness — a technician with a multimeter can trace this accurately.
