App Not Connecting / Wi-Fi Pairing Failed
Dolphin Robotic Pool Cleaner
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
The MyDolphin Plus app failing to connect usually means the cleaner's PowerStream unit lost its Wi-Fi pairing or the router is broadcasting only on 5 GHz. Dolphin requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network — 5 GHz is not supported. Delete the device in the app and re-pair to restore the connection.
Affected Models
- Dolphin S300i
- Dolphin M600
- Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus
- Dolphin Sigma
- Dolphin Premier — Wi-Fi models only
Common Causes
- Router changed or Wi-Fi password updated — cleaner still has old credentials
- 5 GHz-only Wi-Fi broadcast — Dolphin requires 2.4 GHz
- Phone Bluetooth disabled during the initial pairing sequence
- MyDolphin Plus app not updated — old app versions lose pairing
- PowerStream unit firmware needs update
How to Fix It
-
Confirm your router broadcasts on 2.4 GHz.
Log in to your router settings and verify a 2.4 GHz network is active. If your router shows only a single SSID (e.g., combined 2.4/5 GHz), temporarily disable the 5 GHz band or use a separate 2.4 GHz SSID for the Dolphin pairing.
-
Enable Bluetooth on your phone.
The MyDolphin Plus app uses Bluetooth to send the Wi-Fi credentials to the cleaner during setup. Ensure Bluetooth is turned on in your phone settings before opening the app for pairing. Stand within 3 feet of the cleaner during the pairing process.
-
Delete the device in the app and re-pair.
In the MyDolphin Plus app, go to Settings > My Devices, select the cleaner, and choose Remove Device. Then tap the + icon to add a new device and follow the pairing wizard. Make sure the PowerStream unit LED is blinking, indicating it is in pairing mode.
-
Update the MyDolphin Plus app.
An outdated app version can fail to complete pairing with newer firmware. Update the app from the App Store or Google Play, then retry the pairing process.
-
Factory reset the PowerStream unit.
Hold the Wi-Fi button on the PowerStream unit for 10 seconds until the LED flashes rapidly to enter factory reset mode. After the reset, re-pair the device through the app from scratch.
When to Call a Professional
If the cleaner fails to connect after a full re-pair on a 2.4 GHz network with the latest app version, the Wi-Fi module in the PowerStream unit may be defective.
