Power Supply Error

Dolphin Robotic Pool Cleaner

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A Dolphin robotic cleaner that has no power or shows a power supply error is most often caused by a tripped GFCI outlet, an overheated power supply, or the safety float switch being triggered. Reset the GFCI outlet, allow the power supply to cool in the shade for 30 minutes, and check that the power supply is not sitting in direct sunlight.

Affected Models

  • Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus
  • Dolphin Active 60i
  • Dolphin Quantum
  • Dolphin Supreme M600
  • Dolphin S300i

Common Causes

  • GFCI outlet has tripped — the most common cause
  • Power supply unit has overheated from being left in direct sunlight
  • Safety float switch (if equipped) has been triggered by water in the cable
  • Internal fault in the power supply unit

How to Fix It

  1. Find the GFCI outlet the Dolphin power supply is plugged into and press the Reset button on the outlet. GFCI outlets are typically located near the pool equipment pad.

A GFCI outlet that trips repeatedly indicates a leakage current fault in the cleaner cable or power supply. Do not continue using the equipment until the cause of the repeated GFCI trips is identified — it is a safety issue.

  2. Move the power supply unit out of direct sunlight. The power supply has an internal thermal overload that shuts it down when it overheats. Allow it to cool for 30 minutes in a shaded spot.

The Dolphin power supply is not rated for continuous direct sun exposure. Always place it in shade or use the supplied storage bag during operation.

  3. Check the cable between the power supply and the cleaner for any visible damage, kinks, or water entry points. Inspect both connectors for corrosion.

A damaged cable can cause intermittent power loss and GFCI trips. Cable replacement should be done by an authorized Dolphin service center.

  4. If the power supply has a built-in display, note any error code shown. Refer to the model-specific manual for the meaning of flashing LED patterns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use an extension cord with my Dolphin pool cleaner?

Maytronics (the manufacturer of Dolphin) does not recommend extension cords for the Dolphin power supply. If you must use one, use a heavy-duty outdoor-rated extension cord of at least 12 gauge and keep it as short as possible. Using an undersized extension cord can cause voltage drop, overheating, and may void the warranty.
