Dolphin Pool Cleaner Remote Not Working — Fix

What Does This Error Mean?

A Dolphin robotic pool cleaner that does not respond to its remote is almost always caused by a dead battery in the remote, the remote being out of range (maximum 10 metres), or the cleaner being in automatic cleaning mode rather than manual remote mode. Replace the remote battery and press the manual drive button to activate remote control mode.

Common Causes

  • Remote battery (usually CR2032) is dead or weak

How to Fix It

  1. Replace the battery in the remote control. Most Dolphin remotes use a CR2032 coin cell battery. The battery compartment is usually on the back of the remote.

    Even a battery that reads some voltage may not have enough peak current to transmit reliably. Replace with a new battery from a reputable brand.

  2. Check that the cleaner is in manual drive mode. On the power supply unit, press the remote control or manual drive button to switch from automatic to manual mode.

    In automatic mode the Dolphin ignores remote commands — it only responds to the remote when manual mode is active.

  3. Stand within 10 metres of the pool. The Dolphin remote communicates via radio frequency through the water and pool walls, but range is limited.

  4. If the remote still does not work after replacing the battery and activating manual mode, test with the Dolphin app (available for Wi-Fi enabled models) to confirm whether the issue is the remote or the cleaner.
