Automation Not Responding

Hayward Pool Automation

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Hayward OmniHub app shows the system offline or not responding, first check that the OmniHub panel has power and an active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Restart the OmniHub by cycling its power. Confirm the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the OmniHub during initial setup.

Affected Models

  • Hayward OmniHub
  • Hayward OmniLogic
  • Hayward AquaConnect

Common Causes

  • OmniHub lost Wi-Fi connection or IP address changed
  • Router firmware update changed network settings
  • OmniHub software needs an update
  • App on phone needs updating
  • OmniHub power cycled and needs to re-register with the cloud
  • RS-485 communication bus fault to pool equipment

How to Fix It

  1. Power cycle the OmniHub panel.

Turn off power to the OmniHub at the breaker, wait 30 seconds, and restore power. Allow 2 minutes for the unit to fully restart and reconnect to the network.

  2. Check the Wi-Fi signal strength at the OmniHub location.

The OmniHub is typically in the equipment pad area, which may be far from the router. If signal is weak, add a Wi-Fi extender near the equipment pad.

  3. Restart your router.

A router restart clears stale DHCP leases. If the OmniHub's IP address changed after a router restart, this can cause an offline status. Assign the OmniHub a reserved (static) IP in your router settings.

  4. Update the Hayward app and the OmniHub firmware.

Open the Hayward app → Settings → Software Update. Also check the OmniHub's own firmware update in the app. Outdated firmware often causes connectivity issues.

  5. Verify the RS-485 connections to pool equipment.

The OmniHub communicates with pumps, lights, and heaters over RS-485 serial connections. Turn off power and inspect the wiring connections at the OmniHub and each connected device. Loose connections cause equipment to appear offline.

When to Call a Professional

If the OmniHub panel has power and a network connection but cannot communicate with the pool equipment, there may be an RS-485 wiring fault. Contact a Hayward authorized dealer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my Hayward OmniHub showing offline in the app?

Offline in the app means the OmniHub cannot reach the Hayward cloud service. The most common cause is a lost Wi-Fi connection or a changed router IP. Power cycle the OmniHub and check the Wi-Fi signal at the equipment pad.

Does the Hayward OmniHub work without internet?

The OmniHub works locally on the home network without internet — you can control equipment from the touchscreen panel. Remote access via the app requires an active internet connection.
