Blinking Light
Anker Power Bank
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
On most Anker power banks, a single LED blinking slowly means the bank is charging. All LEDs blinking rapidly usually means a fault such as overheating or a short circuit detected. One LED blinking alone means the battery is critically low — recharge the bank.
Affected Models
- Anker PowerCore 10000
- Anker PowerCore 20000
- Anker PowerCore III
- Anker 737 (PowerCore 24K)
- Anker Nano Power Bank
- Most Anker power banks
Common Causes
- Single LED blinking slowly — charging normally in progress
- Single LED blinking rapidly — battery critically low (under 10%)
- All LEDs blinking rapidly — protection circuit triggered (overtemp, short circuit, or overcurrent)
- LEDs cycling in sequence — firmware update in progress on smart models
- LED flashing amber — charging error detected
How to Fix It
-
Count how many LEDs are lit and note the pattern.
Slow single blink = charging. Fast single blink = critically low battery. All LEDs flashing fast = protection triggered. LEDs cycling in a loop = firmware update or reset mode.
-
If one LED blinks slowly — leave it charging.
This is normal behaviour during charging. The blinking LED shows the bank is actively receiving charge. It will go solid once that charge level is reached.
-
If one LED blinks rapidly — recharge the bank.
One LED blinking fast means the battery is at or below 10%. Connect the power bank to its charger immediately. Avoid storing or using it when critically low — deep discharge shortens battery lifespan.
-
If all LEDs blink rapidly — check for heat and disconnect everything.
All LEDs flashing together indicates a protection event — overheating, a short circuit, or an overcurrent. Unplug everything from the bank and feel the surface for excessive heat. Leave it unplugged for 15 minutes before testing again.
-
Reset the power bank.
On most Anker models, hold the power button for 10 seconds to reset the firmware. This clears any stuck protection state. After resetting, charge the bank fully before using it.
When to Call a Professional
If all LEDs flash rapidly and the bank is warm, disconnect everything immediately and allow it to cool. If rapid flashing continues after cooling with nothing connected, contact Anker support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Anker power bank all 4 LEDs flashing at the same time — what does that mean?
All four LEDs flashing simultaneously is a protection event — the BMS detected overheating, an overcurrent, or a short circuit and shut down output. Disconnect all cables, let the bank cool, and try again in 15–20 minutes.
Anker LED blinks once when I press the button then goes off — is it dead?
One blink and then off means the bank has just enough power to respond but not enough to turn on fully. Charge it for at least 30 minutes before trying again. If it still will not turn on after a full charge attempt, the battery may have failed.
