Power Bank Not Recharging

Anker Power Bank

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

If the Anker power bank will not recharge, the charging cable, adapter, or input port may be the issue. Try a different cable and adapter. Use the input port (usually micro-USB or USB-C).

Affected Models

  • Anker PowerCore 10000
  • Anker PowerCore 20000
  • Anker PowerCore III
  • Most Anker power banks

Common Causes

  • Wrong port — using output instead of input
  • Charging cable bad
  • Wall adapter too weak (under 5V/2A)
  • Input port dirty or damaged
  • Battery has reached end of life

How to Fix It

  1. Use the INPUT port (usually labelled IN or with a plug icon).

Not all USB ports on the power bank accept charging input. Check the labels or manual.

  2. Use a quality wall adapter (5V/2A minimum).

Weak adapters (like old phone chargers) may not provide enough power. Use an 18W+ adapter for faster recharging.

  3. Try a different cable.

Cables degrade. Use the included cable or a known-good one.

  4. Clean the charging port.

Use a toothpick to remove lint from the USB-C or micro-USB port.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to recharge a 20000mAh power bank?
