Pass-Through Not Working

Anker Power Bank

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Pass-through charging (charging a device while the power bank is being recharged) is not supported on all Anker models. Some models support it but at reduced speed. Check your model's specifications.

Affected Models

  • Anker PowerCore 10000
  • Anker PowerCore 20000
  • Anker 737 (PowerCore 24K)

Common Causes

  • Model does not support pass-through charging
  • Power bank prioritising its own recharging over device output
  • Cable issue preventing simultaneous connections
  • Power bank in trickle charge mode

How to Fix It

  1. Check if your model supports pass-through.

Not all Anker power banks support charging a device while being recharged. Check the product page or manual.

  2. Use separate cables for input and output.

Plug the charger into the INPUT port and your phone into the OUTPUT port. Both cables must be connected simultaneously.

  3. Use a wall adapter with enough power.

A weak adapter may only have enough power for one direction. Use at least 18W for simultaneous charging.

  4. Accept reduced charging speed.

Even models that support pass-through charge devices slower during recharging. This is by design to protect the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is pass-through bad for the battery?

Slightly. Pass-through charging generates more heat, which degrades the battery faster. Use it occasionally, not as a daily habit.

Does pass-through charge both at the same speed?

No. The power bank prioritises its own recharging. Your connected device charges slower than normal.
