Fan Always Running
EcoFlow Portable Power Station
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
EcoFlow fan running constantly is normal during AC charging or when powering high-wattage appliances — the inverter generates heat that must be cooled. If the fan runs continuously with no devices connected and no charging, a temperature sensor fault or firmware issue may be the cause.
Affected Models
- EcoFlow DELTA
- EcoFlow DELTA 2
- EcoFlow DELTA Pro
- EcoFlow DELTA Max
- EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro
Common Causes
- Active AC charging — inverter and charge controller generate heat
- High-load discharge — AC output above 500W produces significant heat
- Ambient temperature above 30°C — fan runs more aggressively to maintain safe temp
- Temperature sensor fault causing fan to report high temperature when it is not
- Firmware bug triggering fan at all times regardless of temperature
How to Fix It
-
Check if the unit is charging or under load.
Fan running during AC charging or while powering appliances is completely normal. EcoFlow fans can be loud when charging at full speed (over 400W input). If the fan stops shortly after you unplug the charger and disconnect all loads, the unit is working normally.
-
Move the unit to a cooler location.
If ambient temperature is above 30°C (86°F), the fan will run more frequently even at light load. Move the EcoFlow to a cool, shaded area with good airflow around the vents. Avoid placing it on carpet or in enclosed spaces that restrict ventilation.
-
Update the firmware.
Open the EcoFlow app and check for a firmware update. EcoFlow has released patches for fan control issues on several models. Install any available update and observe whether the fan behavior changes.
-
Perform a full power cycle.
Turn off all outputs, disconnect all cables, and power off the unit completely. Leave it off for 2 minutes, then power back on. This resets the temperature controller state and may stop unnecessary fan activity.
When to Call a Professional
If the fan runs at maximum speed constantly even when cool and idle, and a firmware update does not fix it, the temperature sensor or fan controller may need replacement. Contact EcoFlow support.
