Car Charger Not Working

Jackery Portable Power Station

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Jackery 12V car port not working usually means the DC output is switched off on the unit. Press the DC/12V output button on the Jackery panel — it must be lit before the car port delivers power.

Affected Models

  • Jackery Explorer 500
  • Jackery Explorer 1000
  • Jackery Explorer 1000 Pro
  • Jackery Explorer 1500
  • Jackery Explorer 2000 Pro

Common Causes

  • DC output not activated — requires pressing the 12V/DC button on the unit
  • Car adapter cable not fully inserted into the Jackery car port
  • Fuse blown in the car adapter plug (the round 12V plug has an internal fuse)
  • Connected device draws more than the 12V port's maximum (typically 10A / 120W)
  • ECO mode triggered — unit cuts DC output during low-load standby

How to Fix It

  1. Press the DC output button on the Jackery.

The 12V car port has its own output enable button, separate from AC and USB. Press the button labeled 'DC' or '12V' on the control panel. The indicator LED must be lit before the port is live.

  2. Check the car adapter connection.

The 12V barrel plug must be fully inserted into the Jackery car port. An incomplete insertion will provide no electrical contact. Remove and firmly reinsert the plug.

  3. Check the fuse in the car adapter plug.

Standard 12V cigarette-style adapters have a small internal fuse in the tip of the round plug. Unscrew the tip of the plug and inspect the fuse inside. Replace it with a fuse of the same amperage if blown.

  4. Verify the device's power draw.

The Jackery 12V port is typically rated for 10A (120W) maximum. If you are running a 12V appliance that draws more than this, the port's protection will cut power. Check the appliance's rated amperage on its label.

  5. Restart and test with a different 12V device.

Power off the Jackery and back on. Re-enable the DC output button. Test with a simple 12V device like a car phone charger to confirm the port is working before using heavier loads.

When to Call a Professional

If the DC button is lit and the port still delivers no power, the 12V port or its internal fuse may have failed. Contact Jackery support.
