Indicator Light Not Working / Status LED Off

Various Wireless Charger

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A wireless charger with no indicator light is usually unpowered — the USB-C or USB-A cable to the power adapter is not fully inserted. Reseat the cable at both ends and confirm the adapter is plugged into a live wall socket.

Affected Models

  • Anker wireless chargers
  • Belkin wireless chargers
  • Samsung wireless chargers
  • Any Qi pad with LED status indicator

Common Causes

  • USB cable not fully inserted at the charger or adapter end
  • Power adapter not receiving power — socket switched off or tripped breaker
  • LED indicator deliberately designed to be off when no phone is present (some models)
  • Status LED burned out — charger still works but LED has failed
  • Wrong charging mode selected that uses a different LED color (missed as off)

How to Fix It

  1. Check the USB cable connection at both ends.

Firmly reseat the USB-C or USB-A cable at the charging pad and at the power adapter. A cable that appears plugged in but is seated at an angle may not make a complete connection. Try a different USB cable to rule out a faulty cable.

  2. Verify the power adapter is live.

Plug a phone charger or lamp into the same wall socket to confirm it is working. Some wall sockets are controlled by a light switch — check that any nearby switch is on. Also check whether the circuit breaker for that socket has tripped.

  3. Check the user manual for LED behavior.

Some wireless charger models are designed so the LED indicator only lights when a phone is actively placed on the pad — it stays off when the pad is empty and powered. Check your charger's manual to confirm whether this is the expected behavior for your model.

  4. Test whether the charger is still charging despite no LED.

Place a phone on the pad and observe whether the phone's battery icon changes to a charging state. Some chargers have a burned-out status LED but continue to charge normally. If the phone charges correctly, the LED failure is cosmetic and the charger is still fully functional.

  5. Try a different USB-C power adapter.

Some wireless chargers are sensitive to the USB-C PD handshake from the power adapter. Substitute a known-working USB-C adapter of equal or greater wattage. If the LED activates with a different adapter, the original adapter may not be delivering the expected voltage profile.

When to Call a Professional

If reseating all cables and using a known-working power source produces no LED and no charging output, the charger's internal power circuit has likely failed. Replace the charger.
