Not Charging / Intermittent Charging

Various Wireless Charger

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Wireless charging fails when the phone is not aligned with the charging coil, the case is too thick, or a metal object is between the phone and charger. Remove the case, center the phone, and check for obstructions.

Affected Models

  • Anker PowerWave
  • Samsung Wireless Charger
  • Apple MagSafe
  • Belkin BoostCharge
  • Most Qi wireless chargers

Common Causes

  • Phone not centered on the charging coil
  • Phone case too thick or contains metal
  • Metal object (credit card, coin) between phone and charger
  • Charger not plugged in or using a weak adapter
  • Phone does not support wireless charging

How to Fix It

  1. Center the phone on the charger.

The charging coil is usually in the center of the pad. Move the phone slightly until the charging indicator appears.

  2. Remove the phone case.

Cases thicker than 5mm or cases with metal (kickstand, card holder) block wireless charging. Test without a case.

  3. Remove any metal objects.

Credit cards, coins, or metal stickers on the phone block the magnetic field. Remove them from between the phone and charger.

  4. Use a stronger adapter — at least 10W.

The adapter powering the charger matters. A 5W adapter gives slow charging. Use 10W+ for proper speed.
