Display Not Working

CyberPower UPS

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

CyberPower UPS display blank is usually the display going into sleep/power-save mode after inactivity. Press any button on the front panel to wake it. If there is no response, restart the UPS — the unit may still be protecting equipment even with a blank display.

Affected Models

  • CyberPower CP600LCD
  • CyberPower CP850PFCLCD
  • CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD
  • CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD
  • All CyberPower LCD models

Common Causes

  • Display sleep mode — LCD dims or turns off after 60 seconds of no button activity
  • UPS running on battery with low charge — display dimmed to conserve power for connected equipment
  • LCD backlight failure — display functional but not visible
  • Firmware crash causing display controller to lock up
  • Display cable loose inside unit after a physical knock

How to Fix It

  1. Press any front panel button.

CyberPower LCD displays enter sleep mode after 60 seconds of inactivity. Press any button on the front panel — the power button, mute button, or display scroll button. The display should immediately illuminate.

  2. Check if the UPS is functioning despite the blank display.

Even with a blank display, the UPS may still be protecting connected equipment. Check if devices connected to the UPS are receiving power. If they are, the UPS is working and only the display has a fault.

  3. Restart the UPS.

Hold the power button for 5 seconds to power off the UPS. Wait 30 seconds. Power on again. A firmware crash can cause the display controller to stop responding — a cold restart resets it.

  4. Test the display in a dark room.

If the LCD backlight has failed, the display may still be active but not visible in normal light. In a dark room, look closely at the display area for any faint characters. If you see dim text, only the backlight has failed — the display logic is working.

  5. Check the PowerPanel software.

Install CyberPower PowerPanel Personal software on a connected PC. If PowerPanel shows UPS status data, the UPS is communicating normally and the fault is isolated to the front panel display. This helps confirm the UPS core functionality is intact.

When to Call a Professional

If the UPS is confirmed to be protecting equipment but the display never activates, the LCD module has likely failed. Contact CyberPower support.
