Water Dispenser Not Working
Frigidaire Refrigerator
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
If your Frigidaire water dispenser is not working, check the child lock first — it disables the dispenser and control panel. Also verify the water supply valve behind the fridge is open and the water filter is not overdue.
Affected Models
- Frigidaire French Door Refrigerator
- Frigidaire Side-by-Side Refrigerator
- Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator
- Frigidaire Professional Refrigerator
Common Causes
- Control lock or child lock disabling the dispenser
- Water supply valve behind the fridge is closed
- Water filter overdue — restricting or blocking flow
- Frozen water line in the door
- Kinked water supply line
- Failed water inlet valve
How to Fix It
-
Disable the control lock.
On most Frigidaire models press and hold the Control Lock button for 3 seconds to toggle it off. A lock icon on the display or a beep when you press buttons indicates the lock is active.
-
Check the water supply valve.
Pull the fridge away from the wall. Locate the water shut-off valve on the wall or on the supply line. Turn it fully counter-clockwise to fully open.
-
Replace the water filter.
An overdue Frigidaire water filter restricts flow to a trickle or stops it entirely. Check when it was last replaced (recommended every 6 months). After fitting a new filter, flush 2–3 litres of water through the dispenser.
-
Thaw a frozen door water line.
If the fridge is set very cold or the door water line runs near the freezer section, it can freeze. Turn the fridge temperature up 2°C and wait 2 hours. If water flow resumes, the line was frozen — keep the fridge at a slightly warmer setting.
When to Call a Professional
If the lock is off, the water valve is open, the filter is new, and the line is not frozen but no water comes out, the water inlet valve solenoid has failed and needs replacement.
