App Not Showing Map

Roborock Robot Vacuum

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

A blank or missing map in the Roborock app is usually caused by the robot not finishing its first full mapping run, or a sync issue between the robot and the app. Force-close the app and reopen it, or let the robot complete a full clean to generate the map.

Affected Models

  • Roborock S5
  • Roborock S6
  • Roborock S7
  • Roborock Q5
  • Roborock Q7
  • All LiDAR-equipped Roborock models

Common Causes

  • Robot has not completed a full mapping run yet
  • App not synced — showing cached empty state
  • Robot was manually moved during a mapping run, resetting the map
  • Map data corrupted and needs to be rebuilt
  • App needs an update — known bug in older versions

How to Fix It

  1. Force-close the Roborock app and reopen it.

The app often shows a cached blank state after a connection interruption. A fresh launch forces it to re-sync with the robot and display the current map.

  2. If no map has been built yet, start a full clean and let the robot complete it.

Roborock builds its map during the first complete cleaning run. The map appears in the app as the robot explores. Do not pick up the robot during this run.

  3. Check that the robot and phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

The map syncs over Wi-Fi. If your phone is on mobile data or a different network, the app cannot retrieve the latest map from the robot.

  4. If the map is corrupted, delete it and run a fresh mapping clean.

In the Roborock app, go to Map Management and delete the existing map. Then start a new clean from the dock — the robot will rebuild the map from scratch.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take Roborock to build the initial map?

A Roborock robot builds its map during the first full clean of your home. For an average apartment (60-80 sqm), this takes 30-60 minutes. The complete map appears in the app when the robot returns to the dock after that first run.

Why does my Roborock keep losing its map?

The most common causes are: the robot being picked up and moved (which resets localisation), a factory reset that cleared saved maps, or a firmware update that required a remap. Always let the robot return to the dock on its own after cleaning to preserve the map.
