Error 6

Roborock Robot Vacuum

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Roborock Error 6 means the side brush is jammed or the motor cannot spin it. Remove the side brush, cut away all tangled hair and fibres from the spindle, and reattach it firmly.

Affected Models

  • Roborock S5
  • Roborock S6
  • Roborock S7
  • Roborock Q5
  • Roborock Q7
  • Roborock E4

Common Causes

  • Hair or fibres tightly wrapped around the side brush spindle
  • Debris jammed between the side brush and the housing
  • Side brush motor fault after repeated overloads
  • Side brush arm bent or broken and catching on the floor
  • Side brush not correctly reattached after cleaning

How to Fix It

  1. Power off the Roborock and remove the side brush by pulling it straight off the spindle.

The side brush pulls off with gentle force. Do not force it — if it does not come off easily, check for debris catching it.

  2. Cut and remove all hair and fibres from the spindle post using scissors.

Hair wraps tightly around the spindle and creates enough resistance to stall the motor, triggering Error 6. Cut through the hair from multiple angles to release it cleanly.

  3. Clean around the side brush mount with a dry cloth or brush.

Fine debris between the brush and the housing can prevent the brush from spinning freely even after the spindle is cleared.

  4. Press the side brush firmly back onto the spindle until it clicks.

The side brush must fully seat on the drive post to engage the motor. A loose brush will not spin and will trigger Error 6 again.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I clean the Roborock side brush spindle?

Check and clean the side brush spindle every 2-4 weeks for normal use, or weekly if you have pets or long hair in the household. Error 6 will stop cleaning entirely — regular maintenance prevents it.

Do I need to replace the side brush after Error 6?

Not necessarily — if the brush arms are intact and the spindle is clean, the brush can continue to be used. Replace the side brush if any arms are missing or bent, or if bristles are shorter than 1 cm.
