Error 7

Roborock Robot Vacuum

Severity: Moderate

What Does This Error Mean?

Roborock Error 7 means the main brush is jammed and cannot spin. Remove the main brush, cut out all tangled hair from both end caps, clean the brush housing, and reinsert the brush correctly.

Affected Models

  • Roborock S5
  • Roborock S6
  • Roborock S7
  • Roborock Q5
  • Roborock Q7
  • Roborock E4

Common Causes

  • Hair and fibres tightly wrapped around both main brush end caps
  • Large debris (sock, cable) caught in the brush housing
  • Main brush not reinserted correctly after previous cleaning
  • Main brush motor fault after repeated overload events
  • Carpet fringe or tassels jamming the brush mid-clean

How to Fix It

  1. Flip the Roborock over and open the main brush cover by pressing the release tab.

The main brush cover snaps open with a tab on one side. Remove both the main brush and the short rubber blade brush underneath.

  2. Use scissors to cut and remove all hair from both yellow end caps on the main brush.

Hair accumulates densely on both end bearings. Cut across the hair windings on each cap and pull out the cut sections. This is the most common cause of Error 7.

  3. Clean the brush housing channel with a dry cloth and remove any large debris.

Socks, cables, and carpet fringe often get lodged in the housing and must be removed manually before reinserting the brush.

  4. Reinsert the main brush so the square peg aligns with the square socket at one end.

The main brush has one end with a square drive and one round end. The square end must go into the square socket — if reversed, the brush will not turn.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I clean the Roborock main brush?

Clean the main brush end caps every 2 weeks under normal use. For households with pets or long hair, clean weekly. Regular cleaning prevents Error 7 and maintains full suction performance.

How do I know if I need to replace the Roborock main brush?

Replace the main brush if the rubber fins are cracked or missing, the bristles are matted and no longer spring back, or the bearing end caps are cracked. Roborock recommends replacing the main brush every 300 hours of use.
