Not Connecting to WiFi

Shark Robot Vacuum

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Shark robot vacuums only connect to 2.4 GHz WiFi — not 5 GHz. Make sure your phone is on the 2.4 GHz band before pairing, then use the SharkClean app to add the robot. If pairing still fails, reset the robot and try again.

Affected Models

  • Shark IQ Robot
  • Shark AI Robot
  • Shark Matrix Robot
  • Shark ION Robot
  • Shark AV Series

Common Causes

  • Phone or router broadcasting only 5 GHz WiFi
  • Incorrect WiFi password entered during setup
  • Robot too far from the router during pairing
  • SharkClean app needs updating
  • Robot needs factory reset to clear a stale pairing

How to Fix It

  1. Switch your phone to the 2.4 GHz band.

Shark robots are 2.4 GHz only — they cannot connect to 5 GHz networks. Go to your phone's WiFi settings and select your router's 2.4 GHz network (usually labelled with a '2G' suffix or the same name without '_5G'). Keep the phone on this network throughout the entire setup process.

  2. Bring the robot close to the router.

Place the robot and its dock within 3 metres of the router during the initial pairing. Weak signal during setup is a common cause of failed connections even when the network is correct.

  3. Open the SharkClean app and add a new robot.

Update the SharkClean app to the latest version before starting. Tap the plus icon or 'Add a New Robot' and follow the on-screen prompts.

  4. Put the robot in pairing mode.

Hold the Dock and Clean buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds until the WiFi indicator blinks rapidly. This indicates the robot is ready to receive network credentials.

  5. Reset and retry if connection fails.

If the pairing attempt times out, hold the Clean button for 10 seconds to reset the robot. Repeat the setup process from step 1. If the robot still will not connect, check your router's 2.4 GHz band is enabled and that no MAC address filtering is blocking new devices.
