Frequently Asked Questions

Ring Alarm tamper alert in the middle of the night — is someone breaking in?

A tamper alert means a cover was opened, not necessarily that someone is breaking in. Check the app to identify which device is affected and inspect it physically. Common non-intrusion causes include pets, vibration, or battery replacement by a household member.

Ring Alarm keypad tamper alert — how to clear it?

Inspect the keypad for any gaps between the front panel and the wall mount. Press firmly around all edges to reseat the cover. If the keypad has been removed from the wall, remount it fully.

Can the Ring Alarm tamper alert trigger a siren?

Yes. If the alarm system is armed and a tamper alert occurs, it can trigger the Ring Alarm siren and send an alert to the Ring monitoring centre (if subscribed). Tamper alerts are treated as potential security events.
