Camera Offline
Blink Security Camera
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A Blink camera that shows offline has lost its connection — usually weak Wi-Fi to the sync module, dead camera batteries, or a sync module that has gone offline. Check the sync module first.
Affected Models
- Blink Outdoor
- Blink Outdoor 4
- Blink Mini
- Blink XT2
- Blink Indoor
- Blink Video Doorbell
- Blink Wired Floodlight
Common Causes
- Camera batteries dead or weak
- Sync module offline (cannot connect to Wi-Fi)
- Camera too far from sync module — weak signal
- Wi-Fi router rebooted, sync module did not reconnect
- Wi-Fi password changed and sync module has old credentials
How to Fix It
-
Check the sync module.
Look at your Blink Sync Module — both LEDs should be solid (green and blue). If one is off or red, the module is the issue, not the camera. Power-cycle the sync module by unplugging for 30 seconds.
-
Check camera battery status.
Open the Blink app and look at the battery indicator for the camera. If low, replace with new lithium AA batteries (Blink specifically recommends lithium for the Outdoor cameras).
-
Move the camera closer to the sync module.
Blink cameras need a strong signal to the sync module. If the camera is far away, temporarily move it closer to the sync module and check if it comes back online. If yes, the issue is signal — relocate the sync module or add a Wi-Fi range extender.
-
Power-cycle the camera.
Open the camera's battery compartment and remove batteries for 30 seconds. Reinsert. The camera will reboot and try to reconnect.
-
Re-add the camera if it still will not connect.
Delete the camera from the Blink app, then add it as a new device. This re-pairs it with the sync module and refreshes its connection settings.
When to Call a Professional
Blink support can replace cameras and sync modules under warranty. Most offline issues are resolved by user troubleshooting before reaching that step.
