Sync Module Offline
Blink Security Camera
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
A Blink Sync Module offline means the module has lost its Wi-Fi connection. Power-cycle the module first. If that fails, factory reset and re-add to your Blink account.
Affected Models
- Blink Sync Module
- Blink Sync Module 2
- Blink Outdoor System
- Blink Indoor System
Common Causes
- Wi-Fi router rebooted and the sync module did not reconnect
- Wi-Fi password changed
- Power adapter unplugged or USB cable damaged
- Router 2.4 GHz disabled (sync module needs 2.4 GHz)
- Router on a different network than during setup
How to Fix It
-
Check power and LEDs.
Verify the sync module is plugged in and the USB cable is fully seated. It should show a solid green LED (power) and a solid blue LED (cloud connection). If green but not blue, Wi-Fi is the issue.
-
Power-cycle the sync module.
Unplug the sync module's power adapter for 30 seconds. Plug back in. Wait 2 minutes for full boot and reconnection. This resolves most transient offline issues.
-
Verify your Wi-Fi has 2.4 GHz.
Blink Sync Module requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. If your router only broadcasts 5 GHz, or if 2.4 GHz is disabled, the module cannot connect.
-
Re-add the sync module.
If the sync module still cannot connect, delete it from your Blink app. Factory reset (long-press the reset button on the side until the LED goes red), then add as a new device.
-
Check router compatibility.
Some routers with strict security or guest network isolation can block sync modules. Make sure WPA2 is enabled and that the network is not in WPA3-only mode.
When to Call a Professional
Blink support can issue replacement sync modules under warranty. Most offline issues are user-resolvable before that point.
