Blinking Yellow Light

Wyze Security Camera

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

A blinking yellow light on a Wyze camera means it is on but cannot connect to WiFi or the internet. Check that your WiFi is working, power-cycle the camera, and make sure the 2.4 GHz band is active on your router.

Affected Models

  • Wyze Cam v3
  • Wyze Cam v3 Pro
  • Wyze Cam Outdoor v2
  • Wyze Cam Pan v3

Common Causes

  • WiFi network offline or password changed
  • Camera trying to connect to a 5 GHz network it cannot use
  • Camera out of range of the router
  • Wyze server outage
  • Firmware glitch preventing reconnection

How to Fix It

  1. Understand the light codes.

Wyze Cam v3 status light meanings: Blinking yellow = connecting to WiFi or internet not reachable. Solid yellow = on but not connected. Blinking blue = setup mode. Solid blue = online and working.

  2. Check your WiFi and internet.

Confirm other devices on your network can access the internet. If your router is offline, restart it by unplugging for 30 seconds. Wait for the network to fully come back before checking the Wyze camera.

  3. Power-cycle the camera.

Unplug the Wyze camera's USB cable, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. Watch the status light — it should flash blue during setup, then turn solid blue when connected.

  4. Confirm the router's 2.4 GHz band is active.

Log in to your router admin page and verify the 2.4 GHz radio is enabled. Some routers allow disabling individual bands — if 2.4 GHz was turned off, the Wyze camera will never connect.

  5. Re-add the camera if blinking persists.

If the camera still blinks yellow after power cycling, hold the camera's Setup button for 10 seconds to factory reset it. Then re-add it in the Wyze app as a new device.
