Not Connecting to WiFi
Wyze Security Camera
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Wyze cameras only connect to 2.4 GHz WiFi — not 5 GHz. Make sure your phone is on the 2.4 GHz band before pairing, then follow the in-app setup steps. If pairing fails, reset the camera by holding the reset button and try again.
Affected Models
- Wyze Cam v3
- Wyze Cam v3 Pro
- Wyze Cam Outdoor v2
- Wyze Cam Pan v3
Common Causes
- Phone or router on 5 GHz only during setup
- Incorrect WiFi password entered
- Camera too far from router during initial setup
- Wyze app needs updating
- Camera needs factory reset to clear a stale pairing
How to Fix It
-
Switch your phone to the 2.4 GHz band.
All Wyze cameras are 2.4 GHz only. In your phone's WiFi settings, select the 2.4 GHz network — often labelled without a '5G' suffix or with a '2.4' label. Stay on this network for the entire setup process.
-
Position the camera near the router.
Bring the camera within 3 metres of your router during initial setup. Weak signal is a common cause of setup failures — move the camera to its permanent location only after it is fully paired.
-
Update the Wyze app.
Update the Wyze app to the latest version before starting setup — older versions can have pairing bugs. Update via the App Store or Google Play.
-
Run setup in the Wyze app.
Tap the plus icon in the app, select your camera model, and follow the setup prompts. When the camera plays its ready sound, scan the QR code shown on the phone with the camera lens.
-
Factory reset and retry if setup fails.
Hold the camera's Setup or Reset button for 10 seconds until the status light flashes or a chime sounds. Repeat the setup process from step 1.
