Camera Offline
Wyze Security Camera
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
A Wyze camera offline is usually caused by a WiFi dropout, the camera being too far from the router, or a firmware glitch. Power-cycle the camera and router, then check the Wyze app for the device status.
Affected Models
- Wyze Cam v3
- Wyze Cam v3 Pro
- Wyze Cam Outdoor v2
- Wyze Cam Pan v3
- Wyze Cam Floodlight
Common Causes
- WiFi router restarted or network changed
- Camera out of WiFi range
- Firmware update interrupted or failed
- Power interruption left camera in a bad state
- Wyze app account session expired
How to Fix It
-
Power-cycle the camera.
Unplug the Wyze camera's USB power cable, wait 10 seconds, and plug it back in. Wait 30–60 seconds for the camera to fully restart and reconnect. The status light will flash yellow then turn solid blue when online.
-
Restart your router.
Unplug your router for 30 seconds then plug it back in. Wait 2 minutes for the network to fully restart. Other WiFi devices can confirm the network is back up before re-checking the Wyze camera.
-
Check WiFi signal strength.
Wyze cameras require a reasonably strong 2.4 GHz signal. In the Wyze app, go to Device Info > Signal Strength. If signal is weak, move the camera closer to the router or add a WiFi extender.
-
Re-add the camera in the Wyze app.
If the camera still shows offline after power cycling, open the Wyze app, delete the device, and re-add it using the plus button. You will need to go through the setup process again but this clears any stale configuration.
-
Check for a firmware update.
An interrupted firmware update can leave a camera offline. In the Wyze app, go to Device Settings > Firmware Update and install any pending update. Keep the camera powered during the update and do not unplug it.
