SD Card Not Recording
Wyze Security Camera
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Wyze cameras record to microSD cards only when local recording is enabled in the app AND the card is formatted correctly. Go to Device Settings > Local Storage in the Wyze app, format the card, and enable continuous or event-only recording.
Affected Models
- Wyze Cam v3
- Wyze Cam v3 Pro
- Wyze Cam Pan v3
- Wyze Cam Outdoor v2
Common Causes
- Local recording not enabled in the app
- SD card not formatted in the camera — FAT32 required
- SD card full with no auto-overwrite enabled
- Unsupported or damaged SD card
- Card not fully seated in the slot
How to Fix It
-
Check if local recording is enabled.
Open the Wyze app, select the camera, and go to Settings > Local Storage. Confirm that local recording is toggled on and set to either Continuous Recording or Events Only.
-
Format the SD card in the camera.
In Settings > Local Storage, tap Format and confirm. Formatting from within the camera ensures the card uses the correct file system. Wyze cameras require a microSD card formatted to FAT32.
-
Enable overwrite when full.
In the local storage settings, make sure Overwrite When Full is enabled. Without this, recording stops completely when the card is full and does not resume until space is freed.
-
Check the SD card compatibility.
Wyze cameras support microSD cards up to 256 GB (Class 10 or higher). Some cheap or counterfeit cards report incorrect capacity and will fail silently. Use a reputable brand such as SanDisk or Samsung.
-
Reseat or replace the SD card.
Remove the microSD card, check the gold contacts for corrosion, and reinsert it firmly until it clicks. If the card is not detected in the app after reinsertion, try a different card.
