Battery Draining Fast

Eufy Smart Doorbell

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Eufy doorbell battery drains fast when motion sensitivity is too high, the doorbell is in a high-traffic area with constant recording, or the device is in cold weather. Lower sensitivity, set activity zones, and reduce video quality to extend battery life.

Affected Models

  • Eufy Video Doorbell 2K
  • Eufy Video Doorbell E340
  • Eufy Video Doorbell S330

Common Causes

  • Motion sensitivity too high — triggers recording for cars, shadows, leaves
  • No activity zones — entire wide-angle frame triggers constantly
  • High video resolution setting uses more battery per clip
  • Cold temperatures reduce lithium battery capacity
  • Frequent live view sessions drain battery rapidly

How to Fix It

  1. Lower motion sensitivity.

In Motion Detection > Sensitivity, reduce to Medium or a custom value around 60. This filters minor movement (passing cars, shadows, wind-blown plants) without missing genuine visitors.

  2. Set targeted activity zones.

Draw an activity zone covering only the path to the door — not the full wide-angle frame including the street. This alone can reduce the number of daily recordings from 50+ to under 10, significantly extending battery life.

  3. Switch to Human Only detection.

In Motion Detection > Detection Type, select Human Only. This uses Eufy's AI to trigger recordings only when a person is detected, dramatically reducing false triggers.

  4. Lower video recording quality.

In Device Settings > Video Quality, reduce the resolution from 2K to 1080p. High-resolution recording uses noticeably more battery per event. 1080p is sufficient for visitor identification.

  5. Minimise live view sessions.

Live streaming uses the most battery of any doorbell function. Avoid extended manual live view sessions. Use recorded clips for review rather than streaming live.
