Motion Detection Not Working

Eufy Smart Doorbell

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Eufy doorbell motion detection that is not working is usually caused by low sensitivity, an activity zone that excludes the target area, or Do Not Disturb mode being active. Increase sensitivity and confirm the detection zone covers your driveway or path.

Affected Models

  • Eufy Video Doorbell 2K
  • Eufy Video Doorbell E340
  • Eufy Video Doorbell S330
  • Eufy Video Doorbell Wired

Common Causes

  • Motion sensitivity set too low
  • Activity zone excludes the approach or driveway
  • Do Not Disturb mode silencing alerts
  • Battery low — reduces detection frequency on battery models
  • AI detection type filter too restrictive (Human Only misses non-human motion)

How to Fix It

  1. Increase motion sensitivity.

Open the eufy Security app, tap the doorbell, go to Motion Detection > Sensitivity. Increase the level to High or set a custom value above 70. Test by walking in front of the camera.

  2. Check the detection zone.

In Motion Detection > Activity Zones, confirm the zone covers the entire area you want to monitor — not just the doorstep. Expand the zone to include the driveway or path leading to the door.

  3. Check the detection type.

Eufy doorbells offer All Motion, Human Only, and other AI detection filters. If set to Human Only, packages, animals, and vehicles will not trigger alerts. Switch to All Motion if you want alerts for any movement.

  4. Disable Do Not Disturb.

Go to Me > Do Not Disturb in the eufy Security app and make sure it is off. Do Not Disturb silences all motion alerts even when detection is technically working.

  5. Check the battery level.

Battery-powered Eufy doorbells throttle motion detection when the battery is low. Charge the battery above 50% and test detection again.
