Readiness Score Not Showing

Oura Smart Ring

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Your Readiness Score disappears when Oura does not have enough data to calculate it — most often because the ring was not worn during sleep, syncing failed, or you are a new user still in the calibration period. Ensure you wear the ring every night and sync in the morning.

Affected Models

  • Oura Ring 4
  • Oura Ring 3
  • Oura Ring 3 Heritage
  • Oura Ring 3 Horizon

Common Causes

  • Ring was not worn during sleep — Oura needs nighttime data to calculate Readiness
  • Data did not sync from the ring to the app
  • New user — Oura requires at least 2 weeks of data for a stable Readiness Score
  • Oura membership lapsed — Readiness Score requires an active membership on Ring 3
  • Ring battery died overnight causing missing sleep data

How to Fix It

  1. Check whether you wore the ring the previous night — Readiness is calculated from the previous night's sleep.

Readiness Score reflects how recovered you are based on your sleep. If you forgot the ring during sleep, there is no data to calculate from. Wear the ring every night for consistent scores.

  2. Open the Oura app and pull down to force a manual sync.

Readiness Score is calculated in the cloud after your data uploads. If last night's sleep data has not synced yet, the score will be blank. A manual sync usually populates it within 1–2 minutes.

  3. Check that your Oura membership is active (for Ring 3 users).

Oura Ring 3 requires an active monthly membership to see Readiness Score and other advanced metrics. Ring 4 includes lifetime membership. Check your subscription status in the Oura app under Account > Membership.

  4. Make sure the ring battery did not die overnight — charge it fully each evening before bed.

If the ring runs out of power during sleep, it stops recording. The next morning there is no sleep data, so no Readiness Score. A full charge before bed ensures the ring lasts through the night.

  5. Wait up to 10 minutes after syncing for the score to appear.

Readiness Score is processed server-side after your data uploads. On a slow internet connection or during high server load, it can take a few minutes to calculate and appear in the app.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Oura need 2 weeks before showing a Readiness Score?

Readiness is calculated relative to your personal baseline — your average resting heart rate, HRV, and sleep patterns. Oura needs at least 2 weeks of data to establish what is 'normal' for your body. Before that baseline is set, the score would be meaningless because it has nothing to compare your current night against.

Can I still see my sleep data even when Readiness Score is missing?

Yes — your Sleep Score and the detailed sleep stage breakdown are displayed independently. Readiness Score is the only metric that specifically requires the previous night plus your longer-term baseline. All other data (sleep stages, heart rate, temperature) will still appear normally.
