Scores Not Updating

Oura Smart Ring

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Oura scores are calculated in the cloud after your morning sync. If they are stuck, usually the ring has not synced yet, or the app needs a manual refresh. Open the app, pull down to sync, and wait 2 minutes for scores to appear.

Affected Models

  • Oura Ring 4
  • Oura Ring 3
  • Oura Ring 3 Heritage
  • Oura Ring 3 Horizon

Common Causes

  • Ring has not synced today's data yet
  • Phone Bluetooth was off overnight, blocking automatic morning sync
  • Oura server is processing your data (usually takes 1–3 minutes after sync)
  • App cache is stale and showing old data
  • Oura service outage

How to Fix It

  1. Open the Oura app and pull down on the Home/Today screen to force a sync.

This is the manual sync trigger. Hold your ring within 30 cm of your phone while doing this. The sync usually takes 30–90 seconds.

  2. After syncing, wait 2–3 minutes before checking scores.

Scores like Readiness and Sleep are computed on Oura's servers after data uploads. They do not appear instantly — there is a brief processing delay.

  3. Check that Bluetooth was on overnight so the ring could sync your sleep data automatically.

If Bluetooth was off all night and morning, no data has uploaded yet. Turn Bluetooth on, stay near your phone, and manually sync.

  4. Force-close and reopen the app if scores show but look old or incorrect.

The app occasionally caches old score values. A full close and reopen forces the UI to redraw with the latest data from the server.

  5. Check the Oura status page (status.ouraring.com) if nothing works.

Occasionally Oura's score calculation service has brief outages. If a delay is listed there, your scores will appear automatically once service is restored — no action needed.

When to Call a Professional

Scores not updating is almost never a hardware issue. If scores consistently fail to appear for more than 3 days despite successful syncing, contact Oura Support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does Oura update my daily scores?

Oura calculates your Sleep and Readiness Scores the morning after you sleep, usually once you wake up and the ring syncs. There is no fixed clock time — it is triggered by your sync. If you sync at 7am, scores are typically visible by 7:03am.

Why do my scores change slightly after they first appear?

Oura occasionally refines scores as more data uploads — for example, if the ring stored the last 30 minutes of sleep data separately. A small adjustment (1–3 points) in the minutes after the initial score appears is normal.
