Energy Score Not Updating

Samsung Smart Ring

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Energy Score is calculated after your night data syncs each morning. If it is not updating, the ring probably has not synced yet, or the ring was not worn during sleep. Sync Samsung Health after waking and the score typically appears within 2 minutes.

Affected Models

  • Samsung Galaxy Ring
  • all sizes

Common Causes

  • Morning sync has not happened yet — ring data still stored locally
  • Ring was not worn during sleep, so there is no data to calculate from
  • Samsung Health app has a stale cache showing yesterday's score
  • Ring battery ran out during the night
  • New user — Energy Score needs at least 1 week of data to appear

How to Fix It

  1. Open Galaxy Wearable after waking up to trigger a morning sync.

The ring stores sleep data locally overnight. When you open Galaxy Wearable in the morning, it transfers this data to the phone. Samsung Health then calculates the Energy Score from it.

  2. After syncing in Galaxy Wearable, open Samsung Health and pull down to refresh.

Samsung Health sometimes needs a manual refresh to display newly calculated scores. Pull down on the main screen and wait 1–2 minutes.

  3. Verify you wore the ring the previous night.

Energy Score is based on sleep quality and recovery metrics. Without nighttime data, there is nothing to calculate. Wear the ring every night.

  4. Check ring battery was not depleted overnight — charge before bed.

If the ring died at 2am, sleep data is only recorded up to that point. The Energy Score may appear but be based on incomplete data.

When to Call a Professional

Energy Score not updating is a data pipeline issue, not a hardware fault. Contact Samsung Support only if the score consistently fails to appear after 2 full weeks of nightly wear and proper morning syncing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Samsung Galaxy Ring Energy Score measure?

Energy Score (sometimes called Vitality Score on earlier versions) is a daily 1–100 score that reflects how recovered you are based on sleep quality, heart rate variability, and resting heart rate from the previous night. A high score means you are well-rested and ready for a demanding day.

How long does it take for Galaxy Ring to start showing Energy Scores?

Most users see their first Energy Score after 3–5 days of consistent nightly wear. The score becomes more accurate and personalized after 1–2 weeks as Samsung Health builds your baseline.
