Firmware Update Failed
Ultrahuman Smart Ring
Severity: ModerateWhat Does This Error Mean?
Ultrahuman Ring Air firmware updates fail most often because the ring battery is too low, the Bluetooth connection dropped, or the app was closed during the transfer. Charge the ring fully, keep the app in the foreground, and stay close to your phone.
Affected Models
- Ultrahuman Ring Air
- Ultrahuman Ring Air Raw
- Ultrahuman Ring Air Aster
Common Causes
- Ring battery below 50% when update started
- Phone or app went to sleep during the update
- Phone moved too far from the ring during transfer
- Unstable internet connection for downloading the firmware
- Bluetooth interference from other nearby devices
How to Fix It
-
Charge the ring to 100% before attempting the update again.
Ultrahuman recommends starting firmware updates with a full charge. Even at 80%, an update can drain the remaining battery before completing.
-
Keep the Ultrahuman app open on screen and your phone unlocked throughout the entire update.
The firmware is transferred via Bluetooth from your phone to the ring. If the app goes to the background or the phone locks, the transfer pauses or stops. Enable screen timeout prevention or simply hold the phone.
-
Stay within 30 cm of your phone while the update transfers.
Bluetooth signal degradation at distance causes transfer errors. Sit with the ring and phone on the same surface for the duration of the update.
-
Connect your phone to a strong Wi-Fi network before starting the update.
The app downloads the firmware package from Ultrahuman's servers before transferring it to the ring. A stable, fast internet connection ensures the download completes cleanly.
-
Move away from other Bluetooth devices (laptops, headphones, speakers) during the update.
Bluetooth congestion from multiple nearby devices can interfere with the firmware transfer. Temporarily disabling other Bluetooth devices in the room reduces interference.
When to Call a Professional
If the ring stops responding completely after a failed update, contact Ultrahuman Support immediately. Do not attempt to charge a ring that is very hot. A 'bricked' ring due to a failed update is covered under the Ultrahuman warranty.
