Recovery Score Wrong
Ultrahuman Smart Ring
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Ultrahuman Recovery Score compares your current HRV and sleep against your personal baseline. If it seems wrong, it is usually because the baseline is still being established (first 2 weeks) or a real stressor (poor sleep, illness, alcohol) is legitimately affecting your score.
Affected Models
- Ultrahuman Ring Air
- Ultrahuman Ring Air Raw
- Ultrahuman Ring Air Aster
Common Causes
- New ring — baseline needs 2+ weeks to establish
- Ring fit was loose last night, producing inaccurate underlying data
- Genuine lifestyle factors (alcohol, stress, illness) affecting HRV
- Ring not worn the entire night, producing incomplete data
- App has not synced last night's data yet
How to Fix It
-
Sync the app first thing in the morning before evaluating your Recovery Score.
Recovery Score is calculated after last night's sleep data uploads. Without syncing, the app shows yesterday's score. Sync first, then check.
-
Wear the ring every night for at least 2 full weeks before judging score accuracy.
Ultrahuman Recovery is compared to your rolling 14-day baseline. In the first 2 weeks, the baseline is not yet established and scores will fluctuate significantly.
-
Ensure the ring was snug on your finger all night.
Recovery Score depends on accurate HRV measurement, which requires continuous, uninterrupted sensor contact throughout sleep. A loose ring breaks this contact.
-
Check the breakdown in the app — tap on the Recovery Score to see which contributors (HRV, resting HR, sleep) pulled the score down.
The detailed breakdown explains exactly why your score is what it is. This is often more useful than the number itself.
-
Consider genuine stressors from the previous day: hard workout, poor sleep, travel, alcohol, or illness all legitimately lower HRV and therefore Recovery Score.
The ring may be correct. A score of 40 the day after intense training or a stressful day is often an accurate reflection of your body's state.
When to Call a Professional
If your Recovery Score is consistently very low (below 30) for weeks even when you feel and sleep well, mention this to your doctor — persistently suppressed HRV can sometimes indicate underlying health issues.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Recovery Score range is considered good on Ultrahuman?
Ultrahuman uses a color-coded system: green (above 70) means optimal recovery, yellow (40–70) means moderate recovery, and red (below 40) means poor recovery. Your goal is not to be green every day — some variation is normal and healthy.
Can I improve my Recovery Score quickly?
The most effective short-term improvements come from consistent sleep hours, avoiding alcohol, managing stress, and not overtraining. HRV (the main component of Recovery Score) responds most to sleep quality and alcohol avoidance within 24–48 hours.
