HDMI Not Working
Hisense Smart TV
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Hisense TV HDMI not working is almost always a wrong input selection, a loose cable, or an HDMI signal format mismatch. Confirm you are on the correct HDMI input, reseat the cable at both ends, and try a different HDMI port. Most issues resolve without any hardware replacement.
Affected Models
- Hisense U8K
- Hisense U7K
- Hisense U6K
- Hisense A6K
- Hisense R6 Series
- Hisense Roku TV
Common Causes
- The TV input is set to the wrong HDMI port number
- The HDMI cable is loose at the TV or source device end
- The HDMI cable is damaged or too old for the resolution being used
- The HDMI signal format is set to Enhanced but the source does not support it
- The HDMI port on the TV or source device is physically damaged
How to Fix It
-
Press the Input or Source button on the remote and select the HDMI port your device is connected to.
On VIDAA OS, press the Input key on the remote. On Hisense Roku TV, press Home and select the correct input tile.
-
Unplug and firmly reconnect the HDMI cable at both ends. Try a different HDMI port on the TV.
HDMI ports can work loose over time. A full re-seat fixes many no-signal complaints.
-
Set the HDMI format to Standard: Settings → System → HDMI & CEC → HDMI Format → Standard (for the affected port).
Enhanced HDMI mode causes a blank screen when the source device does not support HDR10 or HDCP 2.2.
-
Try a different HDMI cable — use an HDMI 2.0 or later cable for any 4K source.
An older HDMI 1.4 cable will fail to carry 4K HDR signals and show no picture.
-
Lower the source device's output resolution to 1080p temporarily to confirm it is not a resolution compatibility issue.
If the picture appears at 1080p but not at 4K, the issue is either the cable, port, or HDMI format setting.
When to Call a Professional
If all HDMI ports show no signal with a confirmed-working cable, the HDMI chip on the main board may be faulty. HDMI board repair costs $80 to $150. For budget Hisense models, replacement may be more cost-effective.
Frequently Asked Questions
Hisense HDMI worked fine and then stopped — what changed?
A source device firmware update, a resolution change, or a brief power interruption can break the HDMI handshake. Unplug the HDMI cable, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect. If the device updated automatically, lower its output resolution.
Which HDMI port on Hisense supports eARC?
On most Hisense TVs the eARC-capable port is HDMI 2 (labelled 'ARC' or 'eARC' on the TV back panel). Connect your soundbar or AV receiver to this port for the best audio quality.
HDMI 1 works but HDMI 2 does not — is the port broken?
Not necessarily — check the HDMI Format setting per-port. Some Hisense models set HDMI 2 (the eARC port) to Enhanced by default. Changing it to Standard for that port often restores the signal.
