HDMI Not Working / No Signal / No Input Detected
Panasonic Smart TV
Severity:What Does This Error Mean?
Panasonic TV HDMI not working is most often caused by the wrong input being selected, a loose cable, or the connected device not sending a signal. Press the Input/Source button on the Panasonic remote and select the correct HDMI port number as the first step.
Affected Models
- Panasonic TX series (LED/LCD)
- Panasonic OLED TV (LZ/MZ/LX series)
- Panasonic Smart TV (My Home Screen)
Common Causes
- Wrong HDMI input selected — TV is on a different input than where the cable is connected
- Loose or faulty HDMI cable
- Connected device not powered on or in standby
- HDMI handshake failure between TV and source
- HDMI port physically damaged
How to Fix It
-
Select the correct input.
Press the Input or Source button on the Panasonic remote. A list of input options appears — select the numbered HDMI port where the cable is physically connected on the back of the TV. Panasonic TVs label inputs as HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc. — check the back panel label next to the port.
-
Reseat the HDMI cable at both ends.
Unplug the HDMI cable at both the Panasonic TV and the source device (Blu-ray player, games console, streaming stick) and firmly push it back in at both ends. A slightly loose HDMI connection causes intermittent no-signal errors. If available, try a different high-speed HDMI cable.
-
Power cycle the source device.
Turn off the connected device completely — not sleep mode — unplug it for 30 seconds, then power it back on. Also unplug the Panasonic TV for 60 seconds. HDMI handshake failures are common after firmware updates or power outages — a full power cycle of both devices forces a fresh handshake.
-
Enable HDMI in the Panasonic settings.
Some Panasonic TV models allow individual HDMI ports to be renamed or hidden in the input list. Go to Settings → Inputs → HDMI and confirm the relevant HDMI port is enabled and not hidden. If the input does not appear in the source list, check the HDMI port settings to make it visible.
-
Try the device on a different HDMI port.
Move the HDMI cable to a different port on the Panasonic TV and select that input. If the device now works, the original HDMI port has developed a fault. Note that one of the Panasonic HDMI ports is typically designated as the ARC port for soundbar connection — the ARC port can also be used for regular devices.
When to Call a Professional
If a specific HDMI port does not work with multiple confirmed-working cables and devices, the HDMI port on the Panasonic main board has failed. Professional repair is required.
