Bluetooth Not Working

Sharp Smart TV

Severity:

What Does This Error Mean?

Sharp TV Bluetooth issues are almost always a pairing problem — the device was not in pairing mode when the TV searched, or an old entry needs clearing. Forget the device in Bluetooth settings, put the headphones or speaker into active pairing mode, then search again from the TV. This resolves most connection failures.

Affected Models

  • Sharp Aquos 4K
  • Sharp 4T-C Series
  • Sharp Android TV
  • Sharp 2T-C Series

Common Causes

  • The headphones or speaker were not in active pairing mode during the TV's search
  • A stale pairing entry is preventing a fresh connection
  • The Bluetooth device is out of range or has a low battery
  • A firmware update reset Bluetooth settings or changed compatibility
  • The TV is trying to reconnect to a previously paired device instead of the new one

How to Fix It

  1. On the TV, go to Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Bluetooth. Find the device and select Forget.

Removing the stale entry forces the TV to treat the device as new.

  2. Put the Bluetooth device into active pairing mode — usually by holding the Bluetooth or power button until the LED flashes rapidly.

The device must be in discoverable pairing mode, not just Bluetooth-on.

  3. On the TV, select Add New Device or search for Bluetooth devices. Select your device from the list.

Stay within 3 metres of the TV during pairing.

  4. After pairing, go to Settings → Device Preferences → Sound → Audio Output and select your Bluetooth device.

Sharp Android TVs do not always switch audio output automatically after Bluetooth pairing.

  5. If audio has a lip sync delay, adjust A/V Sync: Settings → Device Preferences → Sound → A/V Sync.

Bluetooth audio adds 100 to 300 ms of inherent latency. A/V Sync adds matching video delay.

When to Call a Professional

Bluetooth connectivity issues on Sharp TVs are always software or pairing related. If Bluetooth works for one device but not another, the issue is the specific device's codec or firmware compatibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Sharp Aquos Android TV support Bluetooth headphones?

Yes — Sharp Android TV models support Bluetooth audio for headphones and speakers. Older Sharp AQUOS models without Android TV may have limited or no Bluetooth audio support. Check your model's spec sheet.

Bluetooth is connected but no audio plays through headphones — why?

The TV is probably still routing audio to the built-in speakers. Go to Settings → Sound → Audio Output and manually select your Bluetooth device.

Can I connect multiple Bluetooth devices to my Sharp TV?

Most Sharp TVs support one active Bluetooth audio device at a time. You can have multiple devices paired (saved) but only one can output audio simultaneously.
