Error 39
Disney+ Streaming Service
Severity: MinorWhat Does This Error Mean?
Error 39 means the maximum number of simultaneous streams on your account has been reached. Someone else on your account is already watching Disney+ on multiple devices. Waiting for them to finish or stopping a stream on another device fixes it.
Affected Models
- All devices running Disney+
- Samsung Smart TV
- Apple TV
- Amazon Fire Stick
- Roku
- iPhone and iPad
Common Causes
- Maximum simultaneous streams reached (typically 4)
- Multiple family members streaming at the same time
- A stream left running on another device
- Account being shared outside the household
- A download in progress counting as a stream
How to Fix It
-
Ask other people on your account to stop watching temporarily.
Disney+ allows up to 4 simultaneous streams. If all 4 are in use, a fifth person will get Error 39.
-
Check all your own devices for active streams and stop them.
A video left paused or playing on a TV in another room still counts as an active stream.
-
Go to Account > Streaming Activity on the Disney+ website.
Here you can see what is currently streaming and on which device. You can stop any active stream remotely.
-
Use Log Out of All Devices if streams are stuck or you cannot identify them.
This immediately ends all active sessions. You will need to sign back in on your devices.
When to Call a Professional
Error 39 does not require professional help. It is simply a usage limit set by Disney+. If you need more simultaneous streams, you may need to review who has access to your account.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many people can watch Disney+ at the same time?
Disney+ allows up to 4 simultaneous streams on a single account. If 4 streams are already active, the next person will see Error 39. You can check and stop active streams through Account > Streaming Activity on the website.
Why does Disney+ show Error 39 when I am the only one watching?
A stream you started earlier may still be active on another device. Check your TV, tablet, or laptop for a Disney+ session left running. If you cannot find it, use the Log Out of All Devices option to clear all sessions.
Can I upgrade my Disney+ plan to get more simultaneous streams?
Disney+ standard plans include up to 4 simultaneous streams. This limit is the same across all Disney+ plan tiers as of 2024. If you need more, consider whether all current users are in your household.
