Events Not Showing

Google Calendar App

Severity: Minor

What Does This Error Mean?

Your Google Calendar events are not visible, but they have almost certainly not been deleted. The most common cause is a calendar being accidentally unchecked or a sync delay on mobile. Events are still in your account and will reappear once the display or sync issue is resolved.

Affected Models

  • Google Calendar Web
  • Google Calendar iOS App
  • Google Calendar Android App
  • Google Workspace
  • All Google accounts

Common Causes

  • A specific calendar (e.g. a shared or imported calendar) is toggled off in the sidebar
  • Sync has not completed on mobile after a recent change
  • A date range filter or view is hiding events outside the current window
  • Events were created under a different Google account that is not currently active
  • Temporary Google Calendar sync delay or server-side issue

How to Fix It

  1. In Google Calendar on the web, check the left sidebar and make sure all calendars you expect are checked (showing their color dot).

Calendars are easy to accidentally uncheck — a single click hides all events from that calendar without any warning.

  2. On mobile, open the app menu and verify the calendar you expect is toggled on.

The mobile app has a separate toggle for each calendar — if a calendar is off, its events simply disappear from the view.

  3. Check that you are looking at the correct Google account — tap your profile picture and confirm the active account.

Events created under a secondary Google account will not appear when you are viewing a different account.

  4. If using a filter or search, clear it and return to the default calendar view.

An active search or date filter can make it appear that events are missing when they are just outside the current view.

  5. On mobile, force-close the Google Calendar app and reopen it, or go to Settings → Apps → Google Calendar → Clear Cache.

Clearing the cache forces the app to re-sync from Google's servers and often resolves display glitches.

When to Call a Professional

Missing calendar events are almost always a display or sync issue, not a data loss situation. If events are genuinely gone from all devices and the Google Calendar trash, contact Google Support at support.google.com. For work or school accounts, your Google Workspace administrator can check admin-level event logs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my missing calendar events permanently deleted?

Almost certainly not — deleted events go to the Google Calendar trash first. Check the trash by clicking the three-dot menu next to a calendar in the sidebar and selecting View trash. Events stay in the trash for 30 days before being permanently removed.

Why did my Google Calendar events disappear after switching phones?

Events are stored in your Google account, not on the device. After signing into your Google account on the new phone, open Google Calendar and allow it time to sync. If some events are missing, check that the same calendars are toggled on in the app menu.

Why are shared calendar events not showing up?

Shared or subscribed calendars need to be explicitly enabled in your sidebar. If someone shared a calendar with you recently, you may need to accept the invitation first. Check your email for a calendar sharing invitation from Google.
