What Does This Error Mean?

The 'Waiting for Host' screen in Zoom means you have joined the meeting, but the host has not started it yet. You are in the Waiting Room — a virtual lobby that holds participants until the host lets them in. This is not an error. It is a deliberate security feature.

Common Causes

The host has not joined their own meeting yet

How to Fix It

Simply wait. If the meeting is scheduled to start soon, the host will admit you shortly.

Hosts sometimes run a few minutes late. Give it 5–10 minutes before taking further action.
Contact the host directly — by phone, text, or email — and let them know you are waiting.

The host may not have noticed the waiting room notification, especially on mobile.
Check the meeting time again. Make sure you joined on the correct day and at the correct time.

If you joined 24 hours early or late due to a time zone mistake, you will wait indefinitely.
